“There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can’t take part; you can’t even passively take part, and you’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you’ve got to make it stop. And you’ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you’re free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!” —

Mario Savio (via bradicalmang)

(this is probably one of my favorite quotes of all time)

I remember this from Half Nelson.  So powerful.

2 things.

I had left the party earlier than intended and forgot to tell you:

1) Thank-you for inviting me.

2) I liked what you had done with your hair.

  • Bunk: A different look for our boy.
  • McNulty: Yeah, Perry Ellis, or something.
  • Bunk: Now, how would a just-rolled-out-of-bed-looking motherfucker like you know the designer?
  • McNulty: [pauses] Okay, I'm guessing.
  • Bunk: It's a Joseph Abboud. He puts dark buttons instead of brass on his blazers. That's the Abboud signature.
  • McNulty: You know what they call a guy who pays that much attention to his clothes, don't you?
  • Bunk: Mm-hmm...A grown-up.

(LA) Council Balks at Library Tax for November Ballot, Says Maybe 2011 → laist.com

“Libraries gave us power” was the opening line from the Manic Street Preachers’ first major hit ‘A Design for Life’, and reflected their pride in their working-class upbringing in industrial South Wales, the line being inspired by the main entrance to the Central Library in Newport which contains an inscription of the said legend. The library was built for the poor of the town around the turn of the 20th century, a first class public facility to enable those less fortunate to better themselves, the provision of the building driven forward by the local Labour movement, hence the inscription: “libraries gave us power”. - David Proudlove

I want to make a documentary about people's reaction to Slow Jabroni.

noheadnoheart:

Give them the headphones, say ‘Son, this is going to change your life’ and just stand there, watching. I think it would be a beautiful, beautiful thing.

WORD.  Hopefully people have 6 minutes to spare.

(American Apparel) seeks workers after federal crackdown → abclocal.go.com

My mom could totally work here, she’s got 20 years of garment experience (Danskin), and her English is probably just as good as that of a Mexican worker.  She could hook me up with some better fitting clothes and maybe introduce me to some models.

She’d have to live with me tho :(
