Obama and Leaders Reach Debt Deal →
Good news: US won’t default on its loans. Bad news: US gov’t still has its dick in your ass.

$50K for Pulp →
perpetua: According to this booking company, it would cost approximately $50,000 to book Pulp for a concert at a college in the United States, but only in November of 2011. This would seem to indicate that Pulp indeed have plans to play shows in North America later this year! (More commentary/context from Maria and Heather.) oh it really, really, really could happen.

My brother Francis had come into town a few days before for his annual summer vacation/check in on big brother order from our parents.  It was during the middle of the week and I had to work on set for work so I couldn’t take the time off to hang out with him those first few days.  He seemed tired, I thought he was jet-lagged, so I didn’t put any pressure on him to do anything at...

There are a lot of things wrong with this list, →
rrainking: but “Ex-Con” and “Hit the Ground Running” in the top 5 are SO RIGHT. Pretty legit, except missing from this list is a song he wrote about US President John Tyler. The first show I ever saw in LA was Smog at the Troubadour in 2001, when I was visiting friends for the summer right after I graduated college.  Jack Black was at the show and I remember being really impressed when I...

On Kreayshawn and the Utility of Black Women →
elitc: steviemcfly: Great article that really sums up some of the reasons I hate Kreayshawn so goddamn much. “The White Girl Mob media darling blowing up the interwebs whose potential deal with Sony is making waves makes me angry in a way I haven’t been in a long time. Her appropriative swag is yet another reminder (not that we needed any more this month) of how little black women are valued...

molls: I know I just said that Nikki Finke was a cat breastfeeder and that was aggressive and I should probably just call it a night, but I just saw on Facebook that this dude I loved for like, six months in college (from afar, kind of, except we made out in his top bunk bed once) got married and I’m… Ouch. We all know/will know the feeling.

Jackie is the real deal.  I edited some webisodes last year where she played Taylor Swift and a celebrity dog stylist and the outtakes were insanely funny.  Oh, she also did a Willow Smith impression that the client deemed “too ghetto.” I love segments like this.  Good work, neighbor!

monodialogue: ‘I was thinking. You’re hard to categorize, even in the male fantasy area. Maybe you’re a mixture of genres. ‘A mutant’, I went on (I love these typologies). ‘You’re not a sexpot. Not dizzy enough. You’re not a Hot Lay either, not quite. Too calculating. You’re definitely something of a Sack… favorite book.
