The Jesus and Mary Chain - You’ve Been A Friend
From their misfired “acoustic/country” album. I like the album, but the songwriting is not the best laughable at times. While You’ve Been A Friend echos Almost Gold (my all-time favorite), the lyrics here are clumsy/too on point, a page torn from an Oberst wannabe.
But I’ve been listening to this song nonstop for the last week. We want to think that broken friendships are a childhood relic, protected by the forcefield of maturity, but it still happens in adulthood (usually because of misunderstood “feelings” sometimes because of money) and you’re left with these very elementary emotions.
Anyway, I wish you the best. I’ll miss talking to you.
